Choosing The Right Photographer  The Interview  Money-Saving Tips  Personalized Photography

Choosing The Right Photographer

Finding Your Photographer. This is your special day. Don’t entrust your memories to just anyone. Interview photographers who have been recommended by friends, magazines, wedding consultants, or vendors. Browse through his/her portfolios and website, and ask for references.

Educate Yourself. Learn about what’s out there by meeting with many different photographers and looking at their work. Meet with photographers of different price ranges, even if you think you can’t afford some of them. They may be able to give you some good ideas.

The Interview. Get to know the photographer and his/her photo shooting style. Find out what types of shots and film they normally use for weddings. Some photographers like to shoot weddings in the classic black and white, while others prefer to have the full colored splendor. Glance through samples of each before deciding what style is best for your wedding.

Personality. When interviewing photographers, ask questions to get to know his/her personality. You will be spending all day with the photographer, so it’s important that you click. If not, it may ruin your wedding day.

The Best Offer. Find out contract specifics and see who can give you the best offer. How long will the photographer be at the ceremony and reception? What are his/her charges for overtime? Is there an additional charge for mileage?

Photography Technology. Find out if the photographer uses digital imaging to fix minor flaws and to smooth out images. Digital imaging has another advantage — easy transfer to a CD for your home computer.
