Bachelor
Party
Originally, bachelor parties were dinners held with male friends.
During the dinner, the groom, soon to leave his bachelorhood behind,
would vow continued loyalty to his friends. Today, bachelor parties
are held in gentlemen’s clubs, cigar bars, at sporting events,
or at a private residence. Like the bachelorette, bachelor weekend
getaways are becoming increasingly popular, especially when centered
around golf or another favorite pastime of the groom.
The bachelor party is normally held two to three days before the
wedding. The best man hosts the party. Often groomsmen, ushers,
and guests help the best man fund the party.
